☾ First Impressions

☠ VISUAL: Henry is 5'6", or 167cm. He weighs roughly 115lb, or 52kg. He has a slender and almost bony build; he's been described as having "chicken legs" that feel easy to snap. His hair is silver, straight, and well-kept if a little tousled, and it flips at the ends. Henry's eyes are usually closed or nearly closed, but if you catch him in the right light or situation, his eyes are a pale, dark, grayish purple.

One of Henry's most significant features is his nearly perpetual smile. The perceptive sorts can detect that his smile is a default rather than anything with feeling. A genuine smile is rarer from Henry than it is from most; but it's difficult to get a genuine expression out of him at all. Even when pained, Henry's more likely to grimace and strain through a smile rather than react appropriately. He gives an off-putting air and his "happiness" may not feel authentic, but even when it's pointed out, he'll continue his act. Behaving agreeably and amiably is easiest for Henry.

When it comes to scars or markings, Henry has plenty under those robes of his. Plenty. There are so many scars that none stand out among the others. Characters who bare witness to his body (ha Ha) may deduce that he's been routinely injured throughout his life.

☠ FASHION: If we're talking about Henry's default outfit, you can see it in his official art. It's an elaborate get-up that speaks his class for itself: a rigid mantle of gold upon his shoulders makes way for a cape with a tall collar, embellished by six golden eyes signifying the Fell Dragon, Grima. Pendants hang from this golden mantle, each in the shape of a crow's head (which you can see more easily in this picture). On the back of his cape is another row of eyes, making his outfit unmistakable even from behind. He wears a grey shirt with black sleeves, black tights, and a purple skirt that matches the lining of his cape. On his ankles and wrists are golden bangles, and he wears gold rings on his middle fingers and thighs. ASIDE FROM HIS CANON OUTFIT, Henry typically chooses darker clothes that have an exotic or gothic flair to them due to his Plegian upbringing. He'd also say that they feel appropriate, given his class. He's most likely to be seen wearing blacks, greys, navys, purples, and golds, and he doesn't shy away from jewelry and ornaments. His style of dress may feel sophisticated, exotic, or fantasy-like.

☠ DEMEANOUR: Henry has a bounce to his step, and he moves animatedly and carelessly most of the time. He has the gait of a peppy kid: he'll skip, hop, sway, twirl, wring his hands, tilt his head, talk with his hands... It's hard to tell what he's really thinking or feeling past this eternally cheery disposition. Even when in pain, Henry's typically smiling, but his smile might read more like the grin of a stressed or injured dog.

Speaking of dogs, a lot of Henry's mannerisms are easier to read if the character is beast-like themselves, or familiar with the social cues from wolves. Henry doesn't quite emote the way a wolf might, since he's always smiling, but some of his more vulnerable moments are more animal-like than human.

In aefenglom, Henry gives off the aura of a necromancer, but not of one with sinister intent. Call his practice one fueled by curiosity and the best of intents possible for something like necromancy.

☠ SCENT: It's said that Henry has an animal-like smell that is "acceptable" to beast-like characters. He has an "odd feral air" about him. So that's for all of those animal-types out there... To regular noses, Henry might smell a little like a weird dog, or perhaps a bit like the powdery smell of the bird feathers he loves to collect. It's not cologne or roses, that's for sure.

☠ MENTAL INFORMATION:

Henry is susceptible to any manner of mind reading, mind control, empathic abilities, and such. Using these abilities won't yield any truths out of him, however: Henry has no reservations about being truthful. Henry is honest to a fault, but his honesty only goes as far as his perspective does. He will say he is happy, believe he is happy, but be completely devoid of the feeling.

Empaths, on the other hand, will find he doesn't follow conventional patterns of experiencing emotion. They are on a completely removed level. These emotions don't feel "human" either, to boot. Using the example above, his feelings are not what he thinks they are, nor are they what he's expressing on the outside. If Henry is fearful, he might not be expressing it or experiencing it. In other words, empaths can certainly tap into his feelings, but they might feel completely abnormal, distant, and misplaced.

☠ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Characters attempting to detect any magic about Henry will note that he has an incredibly vast potential for dark magic, elder magic, black magic, or whatever "the fucked up magic" may be called from wherever your character's from. Already the evidence of being a practitioner of it hangs heavy in the air around him: he's said to have a vast potential for dark magic. Characters who can detect nuance in magic will be able to tell easily that he practices dark magic, hexes, curses, and all sorts of less savory types of magic. However, nothing about him betrays that he's even better at dispelling curses, but that is his strongest suit.

In aefenglom, Henry has had all of his canon magical abilities stripped from him to be replaced by the Coven's style of magic. He is new, and has to relearn all of his magical knowledge. To learn about some of his practiced magic, head to his spell page.

☠ BACKTAGGING: I do backtagging all the time, it's cool...

☠ FOURTHWALLING: I can't imagine Henry would take any attempt at fourthwalling seriously but if your character is about to tell Henry the detailed plot of Fire Emblem Awakening, get in touch first. If it's something like "you're from a video game," that will probably be okay. He won't really get it.

☠ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: This is completely okay; I am comfortable with it. Henry will likely be comfortable with it, too. He's pretty cuddly and lacks physical boundaries much of the time.

☠ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: I love threading out fight scenes or scenes that include some kind of altercation. Depending on who's attacking him, Henry's likely to retaliate with whatever he has to stay alive. He's just as likely to take the beating without a fuss, unfortunately. As far as limits go, if the injury isn't debilitating or incapacitating, feel free to go for it. If the injury would be a remarkable one and the thread is over two weeks old, please get in touch with me first so that we can discuss it since I'd like to have time for Henry to react to it afterward.

☠ ANTAGONISTIC RELATIONSHIPS: Go for it. I can't imagine it being easy to get on Henry's bad side, but I'm more than okay with other characters treating Henry with contempt. Whether it's manipulating him, mistreating him, or legitimately disagreeing with his worldview, I'm super down.

☠ ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS: I'm okay with developing romantic relationships between other characters and Henry but I won't plan out a ship in advance. If things develop in that direction, we can see where it goes.

☠ IC SENSITIVE SUBJECTS: Henry is so desensitized to his own trauma that mentioning any of it won't elicit any sensitivity from him. He has a history rife with torture, abuse, neglect, death, war, and mistreatment. Henry's described as being practically impossible to anger, and common "triggers" are too normalized to set Henry off. The most major thing that could set Henry off is takes any cue that he might be abandoned or ignored.
